Wow I just found this album (and what can one say but Wow

I got this album when I first subscribed to Downbeat in 1969 as a promo incentive. Wow! The recording by Rudy Van Gelder set me back on my heels. The sound of the drums was right in your face and the musicianship of the group was so high. The feel of those drums swirling around under the ride cymbal beat was mesmerizing. And so warm. A new world to me that still sounds fresh today, nearly 50 years later. I ordered 3 pairs of Elvin Jones sticks from Professional Drum Shop and couldn’t believe how small they were when I got them. Boy, I wish I still had them. I don’t know what ever happened to them. I never played them that much. They seemed so fragile. Even Elvin is photographed playing with the butt end in many pics if you ever care to search them up on the net. The way Garrison and Elvin lock in is just impeccable. At the time in Downbeat the reviewer was giving this album 5 stars. Not long after, the album “The Ultimate” came out and was probably recorded at the same time as this one. Everything was the same. Pure greatness. Thanks for uploading.
