Two years later Dusty Springfield would become a household name in America with the song "I only want to be with you" in February 1964 on the Back of The Beatles "I want to hold your hand".

Introduced the world , well North America anyway to Dusty.

This is the song to give J. R. Ewing a well-deserved smack across the face with a mattock.

One of the images in the slideshow is of the sleeve of a single (possibly the only one) released by a 1980s American folk-rockish band The Springfields, who had no relation to this trio (though probably took the name in part out of respect). The greenish-yellow one with a boat on a river.

It should have been an even bigger hit than it was. Terrific song, and the best version ever.

Yes, this is my favorite version of the song. I remember this when I was young. Not the Searchers. I knew they were not the originals but they do a good job.

I hear this as bumper music on Coast to Coast AM with art bell as a child.
